Are you a Candidate for Sedation Dentistry?
If you have any of the following:
…then yes, you are a candidate!
If you hate the noises, smells and tastes associated with dental care and offices, and you can’t block them out, then you may want to experience “dental sedation” while we do all the work.
WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN UNDERGOING IV SEDATION
Before IV sedation, the patient is instructed not to eat or drink anything for a specified period of time, usually 8 to 12 hours before the procedure, and may be asked to avoid certain medications, as well. After sedation, the patient may have total or partial amnesia for the procedure. In fact, the patient might think he or she was unconscious or asleep during the procedure, when the patient is actually able to respond to questions and physical stimulus throughout. There may be residual grogginess after the sedation is stopped, so the patient will need to arrange a ride home.
DOES INSURANCE COVER IV SEDATION?
Insurance coverage should be verified through the patient’s provider. Coverage varies depending on both the insurance provider and the plan, so this should be checked in advance.
